Security Alerts
Pacific Internet recommends educating yourself about computer security. You don't have to be technically minded to protect yourself from new viruses and vulnerabilities. If you use your computer for any type of financial transactions or personal information, you should take the time to understand the risks you are taking and protect yourself. A new email list (actually several new lists) are available through a combined effort of the Dept of Homeland Security and CERT. See http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/index.html for more information. We recommend that all non-technical computer users sign up for the "Cyber Security Alerts" email list. Cyber Security Alerts provide timely information about current security issues, vulnerabilities, and exploits. They are released in conjunction with Technical Cyber Security Alerts when there is an issue that affects the general public. Cyber Security Alerts outline the steps and actions that non-technical home and corporate computer users can take to protect themselves from attack. To signup for the Cyber Security Alerts email list, send an email to majordomo@us-cert.gov In the body of the message, type subscribe alerts Be sure that nothing else is in the body of the message, not even a signature line. You will receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription. For more information about what you can do to protect yourself, visit CERT's website at:http://www.cert.org/
