Pacific Accelerator

Surf Faster with Pacific Accelerator

What It Does

The accelerator software speeds up your internet connection by anywhere from 2x to 10x your base connection. It doesn't actually increase your bandwidth, but instead compresses the data so that more information can pass through your existing connection. *

How it Works

2x - 10x Dialup acceleration requires that you download and install the Pacific Accelerator software on your computer. The Pacific Accelerator functions as a proxy server, intercepting your Internet requests and responses and compressing them for faster transmission in both directions.

Pacific Accelerator works on any kind of connection; dialup or broadband. Pacific Accelerator requires a Pacific Internet dialup account to function. After installing and running the software, use your pacific.net dialup username and password when it asks for it. Please specify your full username like so: "username@pacific.net" (not just "username").

Some software (antivirus, spam filter and popup blocking ) may also function as a proxy server on your computer and may interfere with the Pacific Accelerator. In these cases, the Pacific Accelerator should give you an appropriate error message. You must uninstall or disable either the Pacific Accelerator or the other program in these cases. Help for the Pacific Accelerator can be found here: http://www.slipstreamdata.com/troubleshooting.html

* Accelerated Dialup lines do not increase connection speed, they increase web page loading time by compressing data between you and the server. This reduces the amount of data that has to be transferred and so speeds up your session. Typical speed-up is 2x to 10x, but varies depending on the type of content on the web pages. Text and Images compress very well, but some content may not benefit from compression.
