Configuring Apple Mail (OS X 10.4)

Once you've opened Mail, click on the menu labeled Mail, and select Preferences.

To get to the accounts, click the blue "@" symbol at the top. To add a new account, click on the "+" in the lower left. The incoming mail settings your account should be using are shown below. To access the outgoing settings, click the Server Settings button below the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) drop-down menu.

The following two pictures show default settings. No changes should be required, but you may want to fine-tune settings to your liking.

IMAP (Incoming)
Server: imap.pacific.net
mail.pacific.net
Port: 993 (TLS/SSL enabled)
143 (STARTTLS enabled)
Username: user@pacific.net
Password: Email address password
POP3 (Incoming)
Server: pop3.pacific.net
mail.pacific.net
Port: 995 (TLS/SSL enabled)
110 (STARTTLS enabled)
Username: user@pacific.net
Password: Email address password
SMTP (Outgoing)
Server: smtp.pacific.net
Do not use mail.pacific.net!
Port: 587 (STARTTLS enabled)
Username: user@pacific.net
Password: Email address password

Authentication is always required.

Usernames are case-sensitive and should be lowercase.
