Configuring Microsoft Office Outlook 2013

Click on File in the upper left.

Select Info on the left. To add a new account, click Add Account and follow the prompts. To check or edit account settings, click Account Settings and then select Account Settings again.

Select the email account you want to view the settings for and click the Change… button above.

These are the settings you should be using. Click on More Settings in the lower right to view advanced configuration.

Basic Settings

The box for My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication needs to be a checked. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

Outgoing Server Tab

The following screen shows how to configure the server ports. The Incoming server (POP3) can be either 110 or 995. If your account is IMAP, use 143 or 993. Make sure This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) is checked. The Outgoing Server (SMTP) port is 587. For Use the following type of encrypted connection, select TLS. For a POP3 account, you may optionally choose to leave messages on the server.

POP3 (Incoming)

Port: 995 (TLS/SSL enabled)
110 (STARTTLS enabled)
Username: user@pacific.net
Password: Email address password
SMTP (Outgoing)
Server: smtp.pacific.net
Do not use mail.pacific.net!
Port: 587 (STARTTLS enabled)
Username: user@pacific.net
Password: Email address password

Authentication is always required.

Usernames are case-sensitive and should be lowercase.
